Outstanding Women in Industry Lunch

A lunchtime panel of phenomenal women in the industry, designed to inspire and encourage connection.

Rebeka Morgan – BuildHer Collective
Rebeka is a registered builder with a degree in construction management and a master’s in entrepreneurship and innovation. She’s the founder of BuildHer Collective, which empowers women with the right tools to build the home of their dreams, or develop properties for profit.
Pragya Gupta – Senior Associate – Gray Puksand
Pragya’s journey is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of community. Eight years ago, she arrived in Australia as a skilled & experienced architect, starting anew without a professional or personal network. Undeterred, she embarked on a journey of building genuine relationships that would define her path. Today, Pragya is not only a celebrated leader at Gray Puksand, where she drives innovative projects across the commercial & mixed-use sector, but she also chairs the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Group. Her commitment to empowering women led her to found “Wine & Shine” in 2019, a vibrant network for women in the property industry, Recently, Pragya launched a non-profit for Multicultural Professionals in the property sector, drawing from her own experiences to foster inclusivity and opportunity. Her journey from newcomer to community leader is a masterclass in resilience and the transformative power of relationships.
Jacqui Midgley – Business Development Manager – Hacer Group
Jacqui’s interest in developing began with her grandmother who was very successful at developing. She has been working in the construction industry for 11 years, and has worked as Design Manager and Tenancy Coordinator in charge of $200 million dollar projects, and is now the Business Development Manager for Hacer.

The Importance of a Circular Economy in Interiors

With the growing importance of applying circularity to building fitout projects, IFA has teamed up with ForestOne to discuss the key principles to consider when planning a sustainable fitout.
Come and listen to John Dalla Via, National Business Development Manager at ForestOne, who has a long history in the building industry and an impressive working background in Greenstar building projects throughout Australia.
The prevailing use of decorative Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) in joinery designs for commercial and residential purposes in Australia raises some questions about the long-term sustainability of MDF compared to Particleboard. Both engineered wood panels have environmental implications tied to their manufacturing processes, fossil fuel usage, land care, wood-fibre sources, and end-of-life recyclability.
John will talk to what should be the primary choice for interior fit-out projects due to its recyclability and emphasises the need to shift towards a circular economy by reconsidering material choices and habits in the design industry.
