Towards the end of 2022, Blight Rayner Architecture, a repeat client of Platinum Joinery Interiors, embarked on an ambitious venture – a refit of their new, more expansive office space located on Queen Street, Brisbane. With their existing tenancy due to end in early 2023, the architects sought Platinum Joinery Interiors’ expertise to craft a space that would be a testament to their design philosophy while accommodating a team of 40 staff members in comfort and style.

Platinum Joinery Interiors had previously worked their magic, creating an extensive collection of bespoke joinery for Blight Rayner’s former office. Now, with the architects’ trust firmly placed in their hands, Platinum Joinery Interiors was tasked not only with repurposing select pieces from the previous space but also with orchestrating the full fitout of their new office. It was a testament to the level of craftsmanship and design excellence that Platinum Joinery Interiors had consistently delivered.

The architects themselves crafted the spatial vision, infusing the design with specific requests that would elevate their office to new heights. Among the highlights was extensive panelling throughout and a glassed meeting room featuring a custom television unit. Armed with the architects’ precise vision, Platinum Joinery Interiors set to work, merging their artistic finesse with the architects’ design ethos.

Over the course of several months, the fitout took shape, weaving a tale of collaboration and artistry. The process unfolded in a carefully orchestrated manner. Once the base build was completed, the staff began to filter back into the office, and Platinum Joinery Interiors commenced building the bespoke joinery around them. This presented a unique challenge, as architects typically work in serene environments, necessitating a delicate balance between creativity and functionality. Nevertheless, the synergy between the two teams resulted in a symphony of construction and design, with the grand unveiling set for the 25th of May.

The office space was conceived as an ode to modern elegance. Polished floors and an open ceiling concept were deliberately chosen to enhance the visual impact, creating an inviting and airy ambiance. To further elevate the experience, marble-effect cork floor tiles were used in the seating areas, not only adding a touch of opulence but also enhancing the acoustics of the staff workstations, ensuring a harmonious work environment.

At the heart of the transformed space was the bespoke joinery collection crafted by Platinum Joinery Interiors. A seamless marriage of American Walnut veneer and American Oak finished in a rich hue of Cumberland red, created a cohesive design language throughout the office. The extensive reception desk, an exquisite centrepiece, was repurposed from the architects’ previous office, exuding timeless elegance alongside several other repurposed pieces positioned under the windows. This thoughtful reuse not only added a sense of familiarity but also embodied a sustainability ethos, where bespoke joinery truly became an investment piece.

One of the project’s standout features was the unique staff tea point, an epitome of precision design. With meticulously mitred corners, artfully angled ends, and a sleek stainless-steel countertop, the tea point became an inviting oasis in the bustling workspace. This bespoke creation exemplified Platinum Joinery Interiors’ dedication to marrying form with functionality, adding an element of both luxury and utility.

The incorporation of American Walnut veneer was a recurrent theme that exemplified Platinum Joinery Interiors’ meticulous attention to detail. From the extensive reception desk to the elegant wall panelling, and finally, to the remarkable glass meeting room doors, every element contributed to the overall grandeur and sophistication of the space.

In summary, the successful fitout was the product of a remarkable alliance, where the design brilliance of Blight Rayner Architecture found its perfect counterpart in the exquisite craftsmanship of Platinum Joinery Interiors. Together, they forged an unparalleled office space that not only reflected the essence of both entities but also redefined the landscape of modern office interiors.
