A vacant space has been transformed into Masala Kitchen, a dazzling Indian eatery and gin bar that combines modern flair with traditional flavours. Nestled in the heart of Dee Why, this latest addition to the Masala Kitchen family showcases a remarkable hospitality fitout, redefining the dining experience with its unique aesthetics and functionality.
Vision Turned INTO Reality
The owners of Masala Kitchen, already renowned for their multiple locations across Sydney, envisioned a venue that would captivate guests with its vibrant ambiance and memorable decor. Their goal was to create more than just a place to eat—Masala Kitchen would be a colorful dining destination where guests could indulge in authentic Indian cuisine alongside an extensive gin collection sourced from around the globe.
Collaborative Design Excellence
In collaboration with designer Brad Ward, Total Fitouts took on the challenge of bringing this vision to life. The project involved designing distinct, functional spaces within the restaurant, including a fully equipped commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor seating areas, a coffee station, and a dedicated gin bar.
Inspired by the coastal charm of Dee Why, the design incorporates woven rattan pendant lights, curved wooden ceiling panels, warm color palettes, and travertine mosaics. The result is a seamless blend of beachy tranquility with Indian vibrancy, offering guests an environment that feels both inviting and exciting.
Captivating Design Features
One of the standout aspects of Masala Kitchen is its awe-inspiring design elements, which infuse the space with energy and personality. Custom neon signage and LED strip lighting create a neon-lit glow that defines the eatery’s aesthetic, while bespoke shelving above the bar adds a layer of sophistication. Indoor planters soften the atmosphere with touches of greenery, and striking graffiti-style wall murals further enhance the restaurant’s bold and modern identity.
Craftsmanship and Expertise
The execution of this ambitious project was led by Peter Zafis and the Total Fitouts Surry Hills team, whose expertise in hospitality fitouts ensured every detail met the highest standards. From bespoke timber joinery to intricate timber accents, the craftsmanship reflects a meticulous attention to detail. The team’s ability to deliver bespoke finishes on time and within scope has cemented their reputation as leaders in the field.
A New Take on Indian Dining
Masala Kitchen isn’t just a place to enjoy incredible food—it’s an experience. By embracing neon colours, contemporary design elements, and a coastal-inspired aesthetic, the restaurant challenges traditional perceptions of Indian dining spaces. Guests are welcomed into a vibrant world where the energy of the design matches the rich flavours on the plate.
With its bold design, inviting ambiance, and delicious offerings, Masala Kitchen stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful collaboration and innovative fitout solutions. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s a beacon of creativity and culinary excellence that promises a dining experience like no other.
