In the heart of Sydney’s CBD, within the bustling hub of Martin Place, a new space has arrived. The latest RCVRI Studio is now open on Castlereagh Street, directly opposite the new metro station and just moments from some of the city’s largest workplaces.

From the outset, the site promised to become something special. The studio offers private, intimate and communal contrast therapies, extensive compression services, and multiple hyperbaric chambers. Whether for a lunchtime reset or after-work downtime, the space is designed to help members re-align and centre.

Delivering the project came with unique challenges: upgrading power to support a 20+ person traditional sauna, structurally accommodating a 10,000L communal cold plunge in an office tower, creating smaller private pools, and ensuring the infrastructure for cold, clean water was contained entirely within the site.

NORTH+NORTH worked closely with engineering partners, COVA and JHA, to adapt the existing building and introduce structural elements that ensured both function and flow. The result: pools that allow natural movement, services that seamlessly co-exist, and a space that maintains a refined, minimal aesthetic.

Members and guests can choose from vibrant communal areas or private suites for up to six people, each offering comfort and discretion. Global best-practice water treatment was a priority for the RCVRI team, with around 45% of the space built on a raised floor. This allows pools to be partially or fully recessed while concealing plumbing within the raised floor or under slab.

The studio design also reflects RCVRI’s belief in the synergy between sauna and plunge. Each sauna features a glazed frontage, providing a visual connection with friends or fellow members as they move through their routines.

The Normatech Compression Lounge caters for groups and teams, with more than a dozen sets of equipment in a relaxed space to enjoy restorative recovery. The layout is defined by wet zones at the rear and dry areas at the front, ensuring flow and comfort.

Externally, the building remains unchanged, but refreshed signage makes a statement. Set against a mirrored backdrop that reflects the city, illuminated lettering elevates the brand’s presence.

Together, the studio’s modalities and considered design create a true sanctuary in the heart of the city – an escape where members can focus inward before stepping back into daily life.
